As with our affordable and low-cost subsidy housing, the Concretex pre-cast modular system comes into its own with a large-scale development project requiring large numbers of classrooms. The system is particularly well suited to building classrooms, not only in urban areas, but in difficult-to-reach rural areas.

The process follows the same format as house building: foundations/floor slabs are cast with the panels fitting into pre-cast groves in the floor slab, and then interlocking with each other; then roof trusses and coverings, electricals and plumbing, ceiling and painting and finishes. Specialist teams follow each other in two or three day intervals and move quickly through the stages, with all materials being delivered and used the same day.

Classrooms are provided either with additional specifications such as Grade R, or else as uniform single or double units, and can be built in almost the same time as prefabs or mobiles are erected; the only difference being that the Concretex classroom is as permanent as the best brick and mortar construction.
